China slams CIA over recruitment videos targeting officials

Date:

Beijing has sharply criticized the CIA recruitment of Chinese officials after two Chinese-language videos appeared on social media last week. The videos, posted by the US Central Intelligence Agency, aimed to encourage Chinese personnel to leak state secrets. On Tuesday, China’s Foreign Ministry accused Washington of inciting defections and directly targeting government officials. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian described the move as a serious breach of China’s sovereignty. He also labelled the incident a “blatant political provocation” by the United States.

Lin stressed that China firmly opposes such acts and will take all necessary countermeasures to respond. He said the CIA recruitment of Chinese officials represents deliberate sabotage by hostile foreign actors. China, he added, will safeguard its national interests and defend its sovereignty at all costs. According to Lin, these activities go far beyond intelligence gathering and enter the realm of political warfare. He declared that Beijing would strike back decisively against such infiltration efforts.

The spokesperson also condemned the United States for what he described as a history of international misconduct. He accused the US of stealing foreign secrets, subverting governments, and interfering in domestic politics abroad. These actions, Lin argued, undermine global trust and violate core principles of international law. He claimed that the CIA recruitment of Chinese officials is part of this long-running pattern. Therefore, China views this latest episode as an extension of US hostility towards its national security.

Lin pointed out that the videos themselves reveal more about US tactics than they conceal. He argued that their public release amounts to self-incrimination by US intelligence agencies. Moreover, the content of the videos confirms the existence of active efforts to destabilize China. He said this strategy directly threatens global peace and exposes the darker nature of US foreign policy. Consequently, Beijing sees the videos as clear proof of Washington’s aggressive and unlawful posture.

China has pledged to intensify domestic vigilance and enhance measures to block foreign espionage. Lin reiterated that national security will remain a top priority for Chinese leadership moving forward. Officials plan to tighten internal controls and protect sensitive sectors from outside influence. Furthermore, China will continue speaking out against such actions on the global stage. The fallout from the CIA recruitment of Chinese officials has further strained already tense China-US relations.
