Chris Wang Vows Public Silence Forever After Backlash and Sexual Harassment Conviction

Date:

In June 2023, Taiwanese actor Chris Wang publicly admitted to multiple allegations of sexual harassment. Several women accused him of inappropriate behavior, starting with a former staff member who detailed incidents of unwanted physical contact. She alleged that Wang groped her and tried to remove her clothing without consent.

Shortly after her statement, three additional women came forward with similar accounts. The growing number of testimonies led to significant public outrage. Wang responded by issuing a public apology, where he acknowledged his misconduct and expressed deep regret for the harm he caused.

In May 2024, a court found Wang guilty of sexual harassment and sentenced him to eight months in prison. He has since appealed the verdict. In his latest statement, Wang said, “I was really wrong. I am sorry to the women who were harmed. I am sorry to my family and friends who trusted me.”

Most recently, in April 2025, Wang addressed the backlash sparked by a controversial video he had shared. The video triggered renewed anger from the public, prompting him to release another emotional statement. He promised to never appear in public again and vowed to spend the rest of his life “quietly repenting.”

The scandal has severely damaged Wang’s public image and career. He has been removed from upcoming projects and has faced widespread condemnation across social media. His case has also become part of a larger conversation about misconduct and accountability in Taiwan’s entertainment industry.

Chris Wang’s fall from grace marks a significant moment in the region’s #MeToo movement, reminding fans and celebrities alike of the importance of integrity, responsibility, and the lasting effects of abuse.
