Endless Surroundings Inspire Creativity at HUE Art Gallery

Date:

The HUE Art Gallery in Ulaanbaatar has recently opened an exciting new exhibition titled Endless Surroundings. This showcase features the collaborative works of the Khureelen Bui Khyazgaargui art collective. The exhibition highlights more than 100 pieces created by five painters and one sculptor, spanning three generations of Mongolia’s vibrant art scene.

In particular, the exhibition presents a wide variety of styles. Visitors will find everything from realism to abstract and contemporary art. Additionally, the sculptural works add depth and dimension, further emphasizing the diversity of artistic expression in Mongolia. The range of creativity truly captures the theme of Endless Surroundings.

The artists featured in this exhibition are some of Mongolia’s most celebrated talents. Among them are Bold Dolgorjav, a Mongolian State Honoree and People’s Artist, along with Honored Artists Narangerel Tsendsuren and Tumurbaatar Badarch. Moreover, Gan-Erdene Tsend, who serves as a Cultural Envoy to Germany, also displays his works. Leading Cultural Worker Bazarvaani Sambuu and Union of Mongolian Artists’ Honored Awardee Davaasambuu Tumennast complete this impressive lineup.

Each artist draws inspiration from their environment, yet they express this influence through unique approaches to color and composition. Their varied perspectives highlight the concept of Endless Surroundings, a theme that underlines limitless creative potential.

Batjin Boldbaatar, the Director of HUE Art Gallery and a painter himself, emphasized the gallery’s mission. Since opening in June, the gallery aims to meet international standards and become a key cultural landmark in Mongolia. Boldbaatar explained that the gallery focuses on professionally preserving, presenting, and selling Mongolian artworks. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of proper conservation as the value of these artworks increases over time.

Importantly, HUE Art Gallery has installed Mongolia’s first climate-controlled storage facility for paintings. This new feature ensures the safe preservation of over 200 fine art pieces, reinforcing the gallery’s commitment to protecting Mongolia’s artistic heritage.

Looking ahead, the gallery plans to hold an exhibition featuring artists from Uvs aimag in September. Meanwhile, visitors can explore the Endless Surroundings exhibition until September 18, 2025. This exhibition offers a rare chance to experience Mongolia’s rich artistic landscape and the boundless inspiration artists find in their surroundings.
