Taiwan saw an unprecedented rise in Filipino tourists in Taiwan during early 2025. More than 320,000 Filipinos traveled to the island nation between January and June. Chen Yi-ting, director of the Taiwan Tourism Administration’s Service Office in Manila, shared the figures in a recent statement.
Specifically, 322,010 Filipinos visited Taiwan for tourism, business, and family purposes, according to the Central News Agency. This number made Filipinos the top visitors among Southeast Asian travelers. The growth reflects both strong demand and effective government policies.
Chen attributed the surge to Taiwan’s visa-free entry program for Philippine citizens. Additionally, aggressive tourism promotions have attracted more visitors. As a result, Taiwan now ranks among the most popular destinations for Filipino tourists in Taiwan.
Travelers cited several reasons for choosing Taiwan. The island offers convenient transportation, making travel between cities seamless. Food lovers enjoy Michelin- and Bib Gourmand-recommended restaurants that showcase Taiwan’s culinary excellence. Shoppers can explore a wide range of stores, from luxury malls to local markets. Moreover, the warmth and hospitality of Taiwanese people leave a lasting impression on visitors.
This trend continues the steady rise of Filipino tourists in Taiwan. Last year, 476,700 Filipinos visited, demonstrating a growing interest in Taiwan’s attractions. Experts expect numbers to climb further if current visa policies and tourism initiatives remain in place.
Furthermore, the increase reflects a broader trend of stronger cultural and business ties between the Philippines and Taiwan. Filipino tourists in Taiwan now actively explore both traditional sites and modern urban experiences. In the coming months, authorities plan more promotional campaigns to sustain interest.
Overall, Taiwan offers a mix of convenience, culture, and hospitality that appeals to Filipino travelers. The government and local tourism stakeholders aim to maintain this momentum throughout 2025. Consequently, Filipino tourists in Taiwan are expected to remain a key driver of the country’s tourism sector.
