In a recent meeting with Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoygu, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un declared North Korea’s unwavering support for Russia in its ongoing conflict with Ukraine.
The talks, as reported by North Korea’s KCNA news agency, centered on reaffirming both nations’ dedication to their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty and discussed potential projects aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation, particularly within security-related sectors.
Kim Jong Un stressed North Korea’s firm backing for Russia’s efforts in protecting its national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security interests, describing it as a resolute policy stance.
Secretary Shoygu, in turn, expressed appreciation for Pyongyang’s assistance and solidarity concerning what he referred to as the “Ukrainian issue.” Shoygu emphasized that Russia highly values the strategic relationship with North Korea and is committed to further strengthening bilateral ties.
In a related development, South Korean intelligence sources cited by Reuters reported that North Korea has dispatched additional troops to Russia’s Kursk region, though the precise number of personnel remains unconfirmed.
