Kitagawa Rio hiatus Shakes Morning Musume

Morning Musume ’25 member Kitagawa Rio announced a temporary break from group activities. The Kitagawa Rio suspension followed her own request to step back.

Up-Front Promotion released the statement on their official website. The agency confirmed that Kitagawa violated internal Hello! Project rules. After admitting her actions, she asked for a suspension to reflect.

The agency explained that they considered the feelings of other members. They also stated that Kitagawa would take time to reexamine her actions. The Kitagawa Rio suspension, however, has no confirmed end date. The agency promised to announce any updates later.

In their official message, the agency apologized to fans and related parties. They asked for continued support of Morning Musume ’25 during this time.Kitagawa herself issued a personal apology to fans and team members. She admitted her behavior caused concern and disappointment.

In her message, Kitagawa explained the issue stemmed from old social media posts. She shared those posts during private conversations with a female university friend.

While chatting about daily life and work, she exaggerated and used inappropriate language. The Kitagawa Rio suspension follows messages where she criticized leader Ikuta Erina and others.

Kitagawa said those comments came from two years ago and were careless. She admitted she didn’t understand the weight of her words at the time.Since then, she has directly apologized to every affected group member. Kitagawa expressed deep regret and stated she will take time to reflect seriously.

She ended her statement with another apology to fans, colleagues, and staff. Kitagawa also requested continued support for Morning Musume ’25 as the group moves forward.

The Kitagawa Rio suspension marks a significant moment for both the idol and her group.
