Ma Dong-seok Delivers Explosive Action in Demon Hunters

Date:

Ma Dong-seok returns to the big screen with explosive action in the upcoming film “Holy Night: Demon Hunters.” Known for his powerful roles in crime films, he now leads a supernatural team battling evil forces in a city overwhelmed by chaos.

The film introduces audiences to the “Holy Night” team, a group devoted to saving people possessed by demons. Ma plays Bau, the leader who exorcises demons using his fists. His team includes Sharon, portrayed by Seohyun, an exorcist with special abilities, and Kim, played by Lee Da-wit.

During a press preview in Seoul, Ma said the fantasy setting allowed him to deliver even more explosive action. He explained that past roles restricted his action scenes due to their realistic tone. However, this film gave him more creative freedom to expand those moments for the audience’s enjoyment.

He also noted that the villains in this movie are even more wicked than those in his previous works. Ma hopes viewers will feel the excitement and tension as the team fights against truly sinister forces.

Director Lim Dae-hee said the film shares similarities with traditional exorcism stories but also brings something new. He explained that many exorcism movies end before the possession takes full control. In contrast, this movie explores the entire transformation into evil, offering a deeper narrative.

Seohyun, also a member of Girls’ Generation, paid close attention to her character’s design. She said Sharon had to appear strong externally but remain human internally. She worked on a look that combined Eastern and Western ritual elements.

With explosive action, sharp visuals, and intense sound, “Holy Night: Demon Hunters” promises a satisfying experience. Fans of Ma Dong-seok will enjoy this powerful addition to his filmography. The movie opens in theaters on April 30.
