Mongolia Advances Human Rights Commitments

Date:

Mongolia plans to submit its fourth human rights report to the United Nations Human Rights Council later this year. This step reflects the country’s growing commitment to human rights implementation across all sectors of governance.

Last year, Mongolia submitted its mid-term report to the same council. Since then, authorities have approved a comprehensive action plan to strengthen human rights implementation. The government also formed a permanent council to monitor progress on international recommendations. This council ensures transparency and accountability in all related efforts.

During the recent Mongolia-European Union Human Rights Dialogue, officials discussed ongoing poverty reduction strategies. The Ministry of Family, Labor, and Social Protection shared key policies targeting social welfare and income gaps. Participants included representatives from the European Union and several Mongolian ministries working in human rights protection.

Furthermore, Mongolian officials highlighted the nation’s commitment to international human rights standards. They provided details about the actions taken in response to recommendations from global organizations. These measures include targeted reforms and policy upgrades to safeguard vulnerable communities.

Mongolia’s 2024–2028 Government Action Plan outlines clear goals for national progress. The plan includes a target to improve the country’s human development index ranking by ten positions. At the same time, it aims to cut the poverty rate in half within four years.

Meanwhile, the country’s long-term policy document, “Vision 2050,” outlines broader ambitions. The strategy sets a national goal to reduce poverty to 15 percent by 2030. By 2050, Mongolia hopes to bring this number down to just 5 percent.

With these frameworks, Mongolia continues to strengthen its human rights implementation. The upcoming fourth report to the UN will highlight this progress. At every level, officials remain focused on long-term change and sustainable development through inclusive policies.
