Lawmakers from 181 countries have gathered in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, for the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), held from April 5 to 9, 2025. The event brings together global legislative bodies to foster stronger collaboration and promote meaningful change.
Mongolia’s State Great Khural delegation is actively participating in this important international event. Deputy Speaker Bulgantuya Khurelbaatar leads the team, joined by MPs Naranbaatar Nanzad and Punsalmaa Padamdorj, MP Nominchimeg Odsuren, and Secretary General Baasandorj Barsuren. Their involvement reflects a firm commitment to driving parliamentary action for social development on a global stage.
The Assembly’s central theme, “Parliamentary Action for Social Development and Justice,” encourages parliaments to tackle key societal issues. Delegates are exchanging ideas and proposing resolutions focused on peace, international security, and sustainable growth. These discussions aim to strengthen parliamentary efforts and lead to a final outcome document reflecting the shared vision.
Notably, women parliamentarians met on the opening day for the Forum of Women Parliamentarians. They discussed gender equality, leadership roles, and cooperation among women legislators. This year’s forum also commemorated the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, which set a global agenda for gender equality.
Mongolia’s delegates also joined the Asia-Pacific Group Meeting. They discussed regional cooperation and effective strategies for expanding partnerships among member states. These conversations contribute to stronger international networks and mutual support.
MP Nominchimeg Odsuren, elected last year to the Committee on Human Rights of Parliamentarians, now serves as Vice President of the same committee. Her appointment underscores Mongolia’s growing influence in global discussions surrounding parliamentary action for social development.
As the Assembly continues, delegates remain focused on promoting justice, sustainable progress, and inclusive governance worldwide.
