Ganbaatar Sainkhuu, Head of the Standing Committee on Industrialization Policy of Mongolia’s State Great Khural (Parliament), met with Mr. Han Hoon, Senior Advisor at the Korea Development Institute (KDI), and researchers from South Korea’s Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP), to discuss ongoing cooperation in industrial development.
Under the Knowledge Sharing Program, KDI and Mongolia’s Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources are jointly developing a policy framework aimed at advancing Mongolia’s heavy industry. Between 2022 and 2023, KDI supported Mongolia through research on industrial and technology park development, contributing significantly to the Regional Development Concept adopted by Mongolia’s Parliament in 2024.
During the meeting, Ganbaatar expressed appreciation for South Korea’s continued support, stressing the critical need for Mongolia to gain deeper expertise in industrial management, technological innovation, and global market integration. He underscored that building local industrial capabilities would alleviate challenges in attracting investment and financing, emphasizing digital procurement for government tenders as a key area for future cooperation.
Senior Advisor Han Hoon introduced the role of KDI and detailed the ongoing heavy-industry policy research, scheduled for completion in September 2025. He reaffirmed KDI’s commitment to reviewing Mongolia-South Korea joint projects to further enhance collaboration and ensure mutual benefits.
Both sides agreed to deepen their partnership, fostering sustainable industrial growth and technological advancement in Mongolia.
