Byambatsogt Sandag, Chairman of Mongolia’s State Great Khural, met French Ambassador Corinne Pereira Da Silva on May 12. The two sides discussed expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation during their Ulaanbaatar meeting. Consequently this training grant will send Mongolian students to France for advanced studies. France will offer opportunities in artificial intelligence, energy, and high technology. For instance aircraft engineering and satellite engineering top the priority list.
Chairman Byambatsogt noted France’s global leadership in space research thoroughly. France also excels in civil aviation and nuclear energy sectors. Therefore a new training grant will help young Mongolians build specialized skills. The chairman expressed clear interest in cooperating on these technical fields. This training grant thus aims to develop Mongolia’s future workforce for strategic industries.
The two officials also reviewed ongoing Mongolia-France cooperation projects. One major project involves Orano Mining’s strategic operations in Mongolia. Additionally both sides discussed joint efforts to combat desertification effectively. Chairman Byambatsogt expressed appreciation for France’s financial contribution toward this goal. France will provide approximately 1 million euros for desertification efforts separate from the training grant. This project titled Combating Desertification in Mongolia will receive the funding soon.
Parliament will likely approve new student exchange agreements in coming months. Subsequently Mongolian engineers may study in French institutions as early as next year. The training grant represents a concrete step toward deeper bilateral ties. Orano Mining’s work and the desertification fund further strengthen this relationship. Both nations therefore stand to gain lasting benefits from this comprehensive cooperation framework.
