Mongolia’s Foreign Minister Visits Indonesia to Strengthen Mongolia-Indonesia Relations

Mongolia’s Foreign Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh will visit Indonesia on May 21-22, 2025. This visit marks a major milestone in Mongolia-Indonesia relations. It will be the first official visit by a Mongolian foreign minister to Indonesia since 1982. This gap underscores the significance of this diplomatic engagement.

The visit happens at the invitation of Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Sugiono. During her two-day trip, Battsetseg will meet senior Indonesian officials. First, she will pay a courtesy call on Ahmad Muzani, Speaker of Indonesia’s People’s Consultative Assembly. Afterward, she will hold official talks with Foreign Minister Sugiono. They will focus on deepening political ties and broadening economic cooperation between the two countries.

Besides bilateral meetings, the Mongolian Foreign Minister will meet key regional figures. She is scheduled to meet Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN. They will exchange views on regional integration and collaboration. She will also meet Tetsuya Watanabe, President of the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia. Together, they will explore opportunities for increased economic cooperation and development projects in the region.

The main goal of this visit is to strengthen Mongolia-Indonesia relations. Both countries want to invigorate political dialogue and enhance mutual understanding. They also seek new ways to cooperate on international and regional matters. Indonesia, as a prominent ASEAN member state, plays a vital role in the region. This makes the relationship especially important for Mongolia.

Throughout the visit, Foreign Minister Battsetseg will emphasize Mongolia-Indonesia relations. This key phrase will be central to all discussions and reflects the core focus of the trip.
