Heavy Serenade Marks Nmixx Return Following Blue Valentine Success

Date:

Nmixx will release its fifth EP titled Heavy Serenade on Monday. The album features six tracks, including the lead track of the same name. Therefore, Heavy Serenade follows the group’s first LP Blue Valentine from October 2025. That previous album marked a career high for Nmixx. It topped Melon’s Top 100 daily, weekly, and monthly charts. The LP also earned ten music show trophies overall. Consequently, Heavy Serenade carries significant expectations from fans and industry observers.

The new EP blends trance, acid house, and drum n’ bass into Nmixx’s signature sound. Heavy Serenade conveys a deep and unwavering love through its lyrics. Singer-songwriter Hanroro participated in writing the title track. Members Lily and Bae also helped write lyrics for Different Girl and Loud. Lily penned the latter track entirely on her own. Additionally, Heavy Serenade includes other tracks called Crescendo, IDeserveIt, and Superior. The group aims to show a broader musical spectrum with this release.

Member Lily described the album as representing the process of love through its tracklist. She explained that the word heavy usually sounds negative, but the song conveys the importance of uncontrollable love. Haewon added that the album’s storyline follows Nmixx arriving in a blank world called Mixxtopia. There, everything grows filled with love. Consequently, Heavy Serenade delivers a heavy and unwavering heart through mysterious electronic pop. Bae noted that the song felt like it contained multiple seasons simultaneously. It resembles a cool summer and a warm winter at the same time.

The group faced some pressure following Blue Valentine’s massive success. Sullyoon admitted that pressure became good motivation for them to prepare harder. However, the EP reflects the emotional weight that Nmixx feels right now. The members trust their team and believe their relationships have grown deeper over time. This applies also to their connection with fans called Nswer. Bae said her goal was simply to deliver good music with their own color.

Nmixx recently performed at large-scale festivals in South America. These included the Sao Paulo Carnival and the Vina Del Mar Festival. Performing on top of a truck for the first time fascinated Lily. She found the experience safe and unforgettable. Pabllo Vittar taught them Portuguese phrases to encourage the crowd. Consequently, Heavy Serenade comes after these international festival performances. The group also continues its first world tour, which started in Europe and North America. The Asia tour begins in June, where Nmixx will showcase their built-up synergy.

Looking ahead, Kyujin stated that the biggest goal for Heavy Serenade is proving no limit to Nmixx’s growth. She hopes the promotion shows how wide their musical spectrum has become. Sullyoon thanked Nswer for waiting and looking forward to Heavy Serenade. Jiwoo reminded fans to enjoy the promotion safely and happily until the end. The group will focus on creating diverse and fun performances for remaining tour dates. Ultimately, Heavy Serenade represents another step in Nmixx’s evolving musical journey.
