Officials confirmed that Vincent Yao and Dutch Ambassador Paul Huijts will present oral evidence during the session scheduled for tomorrow.
The Joint Committee on the National Security Strategy brings together senior lawmakers overseeing defense, foreign affairs, trade, and domestic policy. Moreover, the committee aims to evaluate how societies respond to disruptions affecting information systems, supply chains, and public safety structures. Chair Matt Western emphasized that societal resilience represents one of the most pressing challenges facing the United Kingdom today. In 2019, former minister Chen Liang-gee presented Taiwan’s experience in artificial intelligence development to UK lawmakers. Later, in 2021, former legislator Jason Hsu delivered online testimony to the Foreign Affairs Committee on digital policy matters.
Consequently, the current hearing signals a continued interest in Taiwan’s governance and resilience strategies within European policymaking circles. Additionally, it reflects growing attention to cross-border collaboration on security, infrastructure stability, and public communication systems. Both Taiwan and the Netherlands will provide perspectives that highlight different regional approaches to managing systemic risks.
