Taiwan Dominates Pony Asia-Pacific Qualifier in Manila

Taiwan dominates the Pony Asia-Pacific World Series qualifier in Manila with a powerful victory. In their second game, they routed the Tarlac City team 12‑0, showing exceptional skill and teamwork. The Pony Palomino division features U19 players from around Asia-Pacific. Taiwan’s squad, Ku Bao Commercial High School from New Taipei, entered the tournament as a top contender. They displayed precision early on, building a 5‑0 lead in the first inning. Next, they extended their lead with three more runs in the second inning. Then, they added four runs in the fifth to trigger the mercy rule and end the match. Therefore, Taiwan dominates yet again, securing a major win at Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.

Earlier on Monday, Taiwan launched their campaign with a commanding 21‑0 victory over a team from Maitum, Philippines. That result set the tone, and the momentum continued with Tuesday’s triumph. Moreover, the team’s star prospect, Cui Sheng-yun, hit an inside-the-park home run. He said he felt cautious at the plate but struck the ball firmly and sprinted with all his strength. His hit energized the squad and captivated the crowd. Meanwhile, pitcher Luo Yu-yen kept Tarlac hitters off balance with his fastball. He struck out five batters over two dominant innings. His performance reflected the depth and talent supporting Taiwan dominates in this tournament.

Team manager Yang Hsiao-cheng commented after the game that Tarlac posed a tougher challenge compared to the previous opponent. Although his team encountered some misfortune in the third and fourth innings, he praised their sustained hitting performance. Looking ahead, Taiwan will play a rematch against Tarlac City on Wednesday. With two decisive wins so far, they stand on the verge of clinching the regional title. If successful, they’ll advance to the World Series finals in Laredo, Texas, scheduled from August 1 to 4. Additionally, Pony Baseball has a rich history since 1951. The Palomino division gives young athletes a crucial stepping stone between Little League and college play. In summary, Taiwan dominates the qualifiers with confidence, skill, and teamwork. Their unbeaten run places them squarely on track for a shot at the global title in Texas.
