Holiday Booking Rates Surge

Date:

Taiwan records strong holiday booking rates ahead of the three-day Double Ten National Day holiday. Travelers across the country are preparing early.

Lienchiang County leads in accommodation reservations, followed by Yilan County and New Taipei City, according to Tourism Administration data collected last Friday. Lienchiang County exceeded 60 percent occupancy for Friday night and 50 percent for Saturday night. Yilan and New Taipei City also surpassed 50 percent for both nights.

The top 10 cities and counties averaged 52.96 percent occupancy for Friday and Saturday night. Keelung, Taipei, Miaoli County, Taichung, Nantou County, Pingtung County, and Taitung County complete the top 10 list. For Sunday night, only Lienchiang maintained bookings above 50 percent. Tourism experts say this is due to popular local events and festivals.

Lienchiang is hosting the Matsu Biennial international art festival. Yilan will hold the Asia-Pacific Traditional Arts Festival, while New Taipei City continues its Wetland Art Festival. Officials noted travelers who planned trips to Hualien County may have redirected to Yilan after Super Typhoon Ragasa last month.

Other attractions include the National Day ceremony at the Presidential Office Building, Taipei 101 celebrations, Nantou County fireworks, Taoyuan’s Taimall events, and a National Day Gala in Taichung. The Tourism Administration urged travelers to plan ahead, use public transport, and follow updated safety and event information. Large crowds are expected at popular locations.

Analysts say strong holiday booking rates reflect growing domestic tourism and the impact of cultural and event-driven activities. Festivals help boost hotel occupancy and local business. Authorities plan to continue promoting domestic tourism, improving transport access, and ensuring visitors enjoy safe, smooth experiences during the holiday period.

Holiday booking rates show high travel demand and underline the economic and cultural importance of Taiwan’s local festivals.
