Taiwan Showcased on Bangkok’s Transit System to Attract Thai Tourists

Date:

Passengers on Bangkok’s BTS Skytrain and MRT system are now being treated to a vibrant cultural journey through Taiwan, thanks to a unique art and photography exhibition aimed at boosting tourism to southern Taiwan.

The visual campaign features colorful illustrations by renowned Thai artist Parinya Sirisinsuk, also known as “Benzilla,” and stunning seasonal photography by Thai photographer Kankavee Karnjanadecha. Their work, inspired by personal travel experiences in Taiwan, is now on display across transit stations and train carriages in Bangkok and will run through July.

The exhibition is part of a broader initiative by Taiwan’s Tourism Administration to increase interest in southern Taiwan among Thai travelers. The initiative includes visually immersive storytelling that showcases Taiwanese culture, food, nature, and contemporary art.

Karnjanadecha’s photography captures the theme of “Taiwan’s four seasons,” focusing on scenic and cultural highlights in the island’s southern regions. The photographer expressed a deep appreciation for Taiwan’s vibrant museum culture and its supportive environment for artists. Among his favorite images are night shots of illuminated temples and scenic landscapes captured during his visit at the request of tourism officials.

Illustrator Benzilla brought a playful narrative approach to his artwork by telling the story of an alien visitor discovering Taiwan’s charm. His lively illustrations feature iconic experiences such as enjoying bubble tea, viewing Taipei 101, and interacting with local culture. He said that one of the highlights of his visits—he traveled to Taiwan three times last year—was painting a graffiti mural in Taipei’s Ximending, where local children eagerly watched and engaged with his work.

Beyond the Bangkok transit showcase, Taiwan’s Tourism Administration has also partnered with the Thailand branch of National Geographic. A film crew visited Taiwan from February 24 to 29 to shoot a special travel segment, which is scheduled to air in Thailand on April 6. The program is expected to highlight some of the most popular attractions for Thai visitors, including cherry blossom viewing, relaxing in hot springs, and riding the Alishan Forest Railway.

The campaign underscores Taiwan’s appeal as a travel destination rich in cultural diversity, natural beauty, and creative energy, while reinforcing the country’s ties with its Southeast Asian neighbors.
