TWS Expands Boyhood Pop With Bolder EP No Tragedy

Date:

TWS returned Monday with a bolder take on youth and romance for its fifth EP, No Tragedy. Specifically, the six member group introduced the album at a press showcase in eastern Seoul. Pledis Entertainment described No Tragedy as a shift from fresh boyish energy to a more assertive love story. The album draws loosely from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. However, TWS portrays themselves as star crushing lovers who claim their own happy ending. Thus, this boyhood pop evolution moves beyond defeat toward self determined joy.

Member Youngjae said the group wanted to express youth emotions more honestly and boldly. Meanwhile, Jihoon added that they explored a variety of genres for a fresh listening experience. The main track You, You is a house based pop song with R&B textures. Furthermore, Dohoon participated in writing the lyrics after watching romance films and dramas. Jihoon also noted that the track marks the group’s first deep exploration of love. They found their answer in the fans called 42. Consequently, this boyhood pop evolution carries a personal and emotional weight.

The album spans six tracks across house, hyperpop, hip hop, R&B, funk and rock. Moreover, all six members have now reached adulthood, expanding their emotional range. Kyungmin said they can now show a wider range of sides beyond fresh boyhood. The EP achieved strong commercial momentum as well. For instance, preorders surpassed 1.16 million copies as of Friday. That figure nearly doubles the 648,182 copies for its predecessor Play Hard. Therefore, the boyhood pop evolution also brings record sales. Additionally, the group set a personal best first day sales record of 833,138 copies.

Leader Shinyu said the million preorders shocked and motivated them. He views it not just as a number but as a motivation from fans. Furthermore, members Dohoon, Youngjae and Hanjin participated in writing lyrics. Hanjin studied Korean hard to portray his emotions accurately. He called songwriting one of his goals for 2026. Similarly, Youngjae drew inspiration from Romeo and Juliet and the musical Wicked. His B side Fire Escape explores finding certainty in a rescuer.

Jihoon explained that TWS has always centered music on their core message. They aim to widen the spectrum of boyhood pop. This album shows that youth can be honest, bold and direct. Finally, Shinyu summed up the comeback in line with the album title. He said they want to deliver happiness and positivity without being defeated by tragedy. Thus, the boyhood pop evolution represents both artistic and commercial growth. TWS will continue building on this momentum for future releases.
