United Airlines launched a new direct flight route from Tokyo to Ulaanbaatar on May 1, 2025. The inaugural ceremony took place at Narita International Airport in Japan.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Bayarsaikhan Banzragch of Mongolia to Japan delivered a speech. He highlighted the significance of the new flight route in strengthening ties between Mongolia and Japan. He also noted that the route will boost economic cooperation between Mongolia and the United States.
Ambassador Banzragch emphasized the importance of tourism in Mongolia’s development. He pointed out that the Mongolian government is prioritizing the tourism sector through its “Vision-2050” long-term development plan. Japan plays a key role in helping achieve these goals. Additionally, the “Go Mongolia” Campaign aims to attract more international tourists to Mongolia.
The new Tokyo-Ulaanbaatar route will operate three times a week. This direct flight is expected to enhance connectivity not just between Japan and Mongolia, but also between Mongolia and the United States. The new route will make it easier for travelers to move between these regions, boosting tourism, business, and cultural exchanges.
The inaugural event saw several key figures in attendance. Besides Ambassador Banzragch, Ambassador Batbayar Ulziidelger of Mongolia to the United States was present. Also attending were Economic and Science Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Japan Evan T. Felsing, Director of Narita International Airport Shinichi Goto, and President of Narita International Airport Corporation Akihiko Tamura.
United Airlines’ new route is expected to further strengthen diplomatic, cultural, and business connections between these important regions. The flight will open up new opportunities for travel and cooperation, benefiting all parties involved.
