Unreleased Teresa Teng Track “Love Songs Like Fog at Night” Surfaces in Japan

Date:

Fans of Teresa Teng have something to celebrate this year. A previously unreleased song by the legendary Taiwanese singer has been discovered in Japan. Titled Love Songs Like Fog at Night, the track will officially release in June.

The ballad likely dates back to the mid-1980s, a peak period in Teng’s career. Composer Takashi Miki and lyricist Toyohisa Araki created the song. The two are well-known for producing many of Teng’s greatest hits in Japan.

Unlike Teng’s usual dramatic ballads, this track features a lighter pop tone. It offers a refreshing contrast to iconic songs like “Tsugunai” and “Toki no Nagare ni Mi wo Makase.”

The track will be part of a special three-CD album. This album will showcase Miki’s musical works and will release on June 25. The timing is especially meaningful, as this year marks the 80th anniversary of Miki’s birth.

Soramusic Inc. president Hideto Hanabata shared his emotions about the find. He said he felt “deeply moved” by the track’s addition to the album. Miki passed away in 2009, but his legacy clearly lives on.

Interestingly, Universal Music discovered the song several years ago. While sorting archived tapes in a Tokyo warehouse, an official stumbled upon the recording. The tape survived despite common industry practices of reusing old recordings.

Because the song lacked a title, Araki later named it Love Songs Like Fog at Night. The poetic phrase reflects the song’s soft, mysterious atmosphere.

Fans across East Asia have welcomed the news with excitement. Many recall how Teng’s music shaped generations. Her voice, both soothing and powerful, made her a cultural icon.

Love songs like fog at night now takes its place among her timeless collection. It reminds listeners of her lasting charm and unmatched artistry.

For admirers of Teresa Teng, Love songs like fog at night offers a rare and beautiful rediscovery.
