Xi urges youth to serve China’s modernization drive

Date:

Xi urges youth to serve China’s modernization drive by contributing their skills where the country needs them most, particularly in remote areas. In a letter addressed to a group of volunteer teachers in Xinjiang, President Xi Jinping praised their dedication. He emphasized the vital role of young people in advancing national unity, rural education and long-term stability. The letter coincided with China’s Youth Day on May 4, a day celebrating the country’s younger generations. Moreover, Xi extended his greetings to young citizens across the country while expressing his hopes for their continued service.

The volunteers work at a primary school in Karajol Township, Artux City, near China’s western border. Notably, Xi commended them for promoting education and ethnic harmony just 47 kilometres from the frontier. He said their work strengthens development and contributes directly to border stability. In addition, Xi described their commitment as a reflection of the Party’s call to support underdeveloped regions. Their presence, he added, demonstrates both political responsibility and a spirit of national dedication.

Xi urges youth to serve China’s modernization drive by embracing patriotism and developing essential skills. Furthermore, he called on young people to remain firm in their ideals and convictions. He also encouraged them to take on challenges in less-developed western and rural areas. According to Xi, such roles provide opportunities to gain experience while supporting the broader modernization goals of the nation. His message aligns with efforts to redistribute talent and resources beyond China’s urban centres.

In their recent letter to Xi, the volunteers shared stories of their work and pledged to stay in these underserved regions. They described their efforts to uplift local children and build strong community ties. In response, Xi acknowledged their letter and praised their commitment to long-term service. He noted the increasing number of youth choosing to volunteer far from home. Clearly, these young people, he said, reflect the ideals of national service and social responsibility.

Xi urges youth to serve China’s modernization drive not just through words but by setting clear expectations. Consistently, he continues to link grassroots engagement with the country’s future development. The emphasis on youth contributions in border regions signals the government’s focus on regional equity and unity. As China promotes rural revitalisation and national security, young volunteers may play a larger role in shaping that future.
