Mongolia shines once more at the World Judo Cadets Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria. On the third day, six Mongolian athletes competed fiercely. As a result, they secured both gold and bronze medals. This achievement clearly shows Mongolia’s growing strength in judo among young athletes. In the women’s 57 kg division, Tsendbazar Mashbat from the “Winner” club won the gold medal.
Therefore, Mongolia shone brightly on the global stage again. Tsendbazar’s journey was impressive. First, she defeated Sweden’s Hanna Babulfat in the opening round. Then, she overcame Danai Dimou from Greece in the round of 16. After that, she beat Russia’s Ekaterina Zhdanova in the quarterfinals and Poland’s Magdalena Valega in the semifinals. Finally, in the championship match, Tsendbazar triumphed over Japanese judoka Nonoka Yamakawa by yuko. Her win marked the second consecutive year a Mongolian athlete won this weight class. In fact, the previous year, Ariunzaya Terbish from the “Guru Dojo” club took gold in the same category.
Moreover, Mongolia shines with another great performance by Enkhjin Gankhuyag in the same division. Enkhjin fought hard and won the bronze medal. She first defeated Tinatin Gulbani of Georgia in the round of 16. Next, she beat Poland’s Yulia Siemko and Turkey’s Elif Kilic. Although she lost to Nonoka Yamakawa in the semifinals, Enkhjin bounced back. Consequently, she won the bronze medal match against Ekaterina Zhdanova of Russia. This means Mongolia had two athletes on the podium in the women’s 57 kg division on the same day.
After the first three days, Mongolia ranked sixth overall. The team had one gold and two bronze medals. Meanwhile, the competition continued with boys’ -90 kg and +90 kg, and girls’ -70 kg and +70 kg categories. Mongolia’s representatives included Amartuvshin Namsraijav, Munkhbagana Galsandamba, Delger Jadamba, and Tergelnaran Banzragch. Fans eagerly awaited their performances as Mongolia continues to shine in this event.
