BTS Swim Ties Billboard Chart Record With 8th Week at No. 1

Date:

BTS added another week to its dominant run on the Billboard charts with the single “Swim,” tying a major chart record. The group matched its own record for the most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. US chart, according to the latest ranking dated June 6. Consequently, “Swim” has now spent eight weeks at the top. This ties the chart record set by BTS with their 2020 hit “Dynamite.”

Moreover, the achievement extends “Swim’s” lead as the longest-running No. 1 song from this year. The main track from the group’s fifth studio album “Arirang” also moved up on other key charts. For instance, it climbed six spots to No. 4 on the Global 200 chart. Simultaneously, it leaped 11 places to No. 44 on the Hot 100. As a result, the song continued its strong commercial performance across multiple metrics.

Beyond the single, the album “Arirang” held firm on the Billboard 200. It has now charted among the top 10 for 10 consecutive weeks. This week, it landed at No. 9. Meanwhile, Billboard highlighted the group’s overall dominance on the Global Excl. US chart. BTS now has the most No. 1 songs in the chart’s history with eight. Additionally, this total doubles the count of their closest competitors. Those competitors include Bad Bunny, Blackpink, and Taylor Swift.

The new chart record for “Swim” underscores BTS’s consistent global appeal. The group achieved these milestones without any significant promotional push during this tracking week. Furthermore, the success comes as the members continue their individual and group activities. The steady performance of “Arirang” and “Swim” suggests a lasting connection with audiences worldwide.

Looking ahead, “Swim” could extend its record-breaking run even further. If it holds the top spot next week, it will set a new all-time record. Therefore, industry watchers will closely monitor the next chart update. The song’s ongoing success also reaffirms the group’s standing as a dominant force in global music. The chart record demonstrates that BTS remains a powerhouse, driving streams and sales across continents. Ultimately, this latest achievement adds another chapter to the group’s storied career on the Billboard charts.
