Jensen Huang Lights the Way at World Masters Games in Taipei

Date:

Taipei shines brightly as the World Masters Games begins with great excitement. To kick off the celebration, tech leader and sports enthusiast Jensen Huang takes center stage. The NVIDIA CEO proudly serves as the final torchbearer in the opening ceremony at the Taipei Dome.

Moreover, he shares this honor with other notable figures. Olympic boxing champion Lin Yu-ting, acclaimed actress-director Sylvia Chang, baseball legend Peng Cheng-min, and 100-year-old badminton player Lin Yu-mao also carry the torch. Together, they highlight the Games’ powerful message: sports for all.

Meanwhile, the excitement starts building well before the main ceremony. The colorful “Parade of Dreams” begins at Taipei City Hall. Then, thousands of participants march joyfully toward Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. In fact, organizers expect more than 10,000 athletes, performers, and spectators to join the procession.

Following the parade, the main ceremony offers a vibrant mix of tradition and innovation. Under the theme “We Share the Same Sky,” the program celebrates unity through shared experiences. Importantly, the sky symbolizes a connection between people of all ages, backgrounds, and nations.

Jensen Huang, now 62, remains passionate about staying active. Notably, he tells the organizing committee, “The best sport is the one you are willing to keep doing.” His message perfectly matches the spirit of the event: sports for all, across generations and abilities.

In addition to the torch ceremony, the evening features high-energy entertainment. The CPBL baseball cheerleaders bring dynamic dances to the stage. Furthermore, guest performers combine traditional Taiwanese culture with bold, modern creativity. As a result, the event creates a strong sense of national pride.

Significantly, this year’s Games hold special meaning. For the first time since its founding in 1984, the World Masters Games take place in an Asian city. More than 25,000 athletes from 107 countries arrive to compete in dozens of sports.

Ultimately, the World Masters Games promote unity, joy, and athletic spirit worldwide. Again and again, organizers emphasize their core mission: sports for all.

Therefore, as the ceremony unfolds, Taipei welcomes the world with open arms and unmatched enthusiasm.
