Min Jiwoon Debut Marks Bold R&B Entry

Date:

Rising singer-songwriter Min Jiwoon is making waves with her Min Jiwoon debut as SM Entertainment’s first contemporary R&B solo artist under its new label, Krucialize. On Friday, she released her debut EP titled “Pink, then grey,” which presents a thoughtful mix of personal storytelling and smooth R&B sounds.

The six-track album explores the emotions tied to love, starting with the hopeful tones of romance and moving through heartbreak and growth. It features two lead singles, “Scared of Love” and “byebye.” “Scared of Love” pairs gentle acoustic guitar with deep bass, while “byebye” leans into modern R&B beats. Through these songs, Min captures love’s journey from vibrant pink beginnings to the muted greys of loss.

Min shared insights during her debut showcase in Seoul. She said she first gained attention by sharing covers and original songs on social media before joining Krucialize. She felt surprised when the label contacted her but soon wanted to become their first official artist after learning about their vision. Min expressed excitement about representing SM Entertainment in a fresh musical style and focusing on music she genuinely loves.

Before signing, Min created music mostly by herself. However, she now enjoys collaborating with a dedicated team at Krucialize. She finds inspiration in life experiences, talks with friends, and even online videos. This support has helped her overcome creative blocks and expand her musical ideas.

Min also spoke about future collaborations. She admires NCT’s Mark for his skills in producing and directing music. Min hopes to work with talented artists like him, blending their strengths.

Listeners have compared Min’s sound to other well-known singer-songwriters, but she believes her vocal tone stands out. She describes her voice as neither very high nor very low, but uniquely her own. Her personal music tastes shape her style, and she plans to keep creating authentic songs.

Her influences include global stars like Ariana Grande and Rihanna. Min aims to bring their charisma into her own artistry while carving her own path.

Looking ahead, Min anticipates live performances beyond her debut showcase and the upcoming SM Town concert in January. She wants to appear at festivals and collaborate with artists on platforms like One Universe and HipHopPlayer. Reflecting on her debut journey, Min admits it comes with responsibility and pressure. Still, she feels thankful for the chance to shine and intends to enjoy every moment of her career launch.
