Aimyon Stuns Fans with Secret Korean Study at First Korea Concert

Date:

Japanese singer-songwriter Aimyon thrilled fans with a heartfelt surprise during Aimyon’s Korean concert on April 19 and 20. Speaking in Korean, she revealed she had secretly studied the language for a year. This announcement came during her first-ever performance in Korea, held at Kintex in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.

Initially, she spoke in Japanese, saying, “I actually kept a secret from everyone.” Then she switched to Korean and added, “I’ve been studying Korean since last May. I didn’t tell my staff or band. Surprised? It’s really difficult.” Fans erupted in cheers and applause at Aimyon’s Korean concert, moved by her effort to connect with them.

Aimyon, whose real name is Aimi Morai, drew 16,000 fans across two sold-out shows. Her middle school love for K-pop and Korean culture came full circle on stage. Male fans in their 20s and 30s made up much of the energetic crowd. They cheered loudly throughout Aimyon’s Korean concert.

Celebrating her 10th debut anniversary, Aimyon gave a warm and confident live performance. Her setlist included chart-toppers like “Ai wo Tsutaetaidatoka” and “You Don’t Listen to Rock Music.” The latter song, used by FC Seoul as a cheer anthem, turned the concert into a massive singalong.

She kept the stage minimalist, avoiding flashy visuals. A spotlight opened the show as she sang “If I’m Gonna Die Anyway.” The simplicity emphasized her raw voice and emotional delivery.

From tender songs like “Fake” to energetic tracks like “Matryoshka,” Aimyon balanced power and sensitivity. She maintained strong vocals while moving freely on stage.

Her quirky humor also shone through. She mimicked Crayon Shin-chan, pinched her belly to match lyrics, and even played a viral apartment game. She also sang Rose’s “APT” with a playful twist.

Unlike most global acts, Aimyon added real-time Korean translations on-screen. She used a binocular-connected camera to interact with fans, asking about their age and companions. Her personal touch made the massive venue feel intimate.

“I didn’t expect to be this popular in Korea,” she told fans. “I felt nervous, but your voices gave me energy. Thank you for filling such a huge space for my first show here.”
