Fastest Bullet Train Sets Record

Date:

China’s fastest bullet train, the CR450, has entered pre-service trials, showcasing unprecedented speeds and technological advancements. The train reached 453 kilometers per hour during early testing, marking a milestone for high-speed rail innovation. Engineers are testing the fastest bullet train to ensure efficiency and safety while combining cutting-edge design with rigorous trial standards.

The CR450 series can reach a top commercial speed of 400 km/h and a test speed of 450 km/h. It is undergoing trials on the high-speed rail line connecting Shanghai in the east to Chengdu in the western inland. Engineers monitor performance closely to guarantee reliability.

During tests, the train accelerated from zero to 350 km/h in just 4 minutes and 40 seconds. Two CR450 trains passed each other at a combined speed of 896 km/h, setting a new record and demonstrating engineering precision. The series features a sleeker, longer nose, a roofline lowered by 20 centimeters, and a 50-tonne weight reduction compared with the CR400 model. These changes cut aerodynamic drag by 22 percent, improving energy efficiency.

Currently, CR400 Fuxing trains in service reach a maximum speed of 350 km/h. By contrast, the CR450 leads the high-speed rail sector as the fastest bullet train in operational trials. Officials require the CR450 to complete 600,000 trouble-free kilometers before allowing passenger service. This ensures both safety and performance standards remain uncompromised.

The development of the fastest bullet train aligns with China’s broader plan to expand high-speed rail infrastructure and strengthen technological leadership. Experts note the CR450’s design improvements could influence future train models worldwide.

Industry analysts also predict faster travel times and reduced energy consumption will enhance domestic and international rail competitiveness. Passengers will enjoy shorter journey times and smoother rides.

China Railway Corporation emphasized that engineers prioritize safety, reliability, and innovation. The CR450 project demonstrates the country’s commitment to advancing sustainable high-speed transport while setting new global benchmarks.

Once it enters commercial operation, the CR450 will redefine high-speed rail standards, signaling a new era for both domestic and international rail travel.
