The 23rd meeting of the Mongolia–European Union Joint Committee took place in Ulaanbaatar on April 4, 2025. They also discussed ways to increase trade turnover, with an emphasis on enhancing the EU’s Generalized Scheme of Preferences.
Addressing climate change was another priority of the meeting. Both sides agreed to strengthen their efforts in combating climate change, aligning with the roadmap outlined in the “Forest Partnership” Memorandum of Understanding. Their shared commitment to this initiative underscored the importance of collaborative action in environmental protection.
Additionally, the two sides reviewed the outcomes of recent sessions of the Human Rights Dialogue and the Development Cooperation Working Group. These sessions, conducted under the Joint Committee, have been instrumental in advancing the cooperation between Mongolia and the EU.
The meeting was co-chaired by Munkhtushig Lkhanaajav, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, and Paola Pampaloni, Deputy Managing Director for Asia and the Pacific at the European External Action Service. Following the meeting, a joint press release was issued summarizing the outcomes of the discussions.
