Oil Refinery Project Accelerates in Mongolia

Date:

Mongolia is advancing its oil refinery project as Prime Minister Zandanshatar Gombojav visited the construction site this week. The visit highlighted the government’s commitment to achieving fuel self-sufficiency through the oil refinery project.

Accompanied by Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Damdinnyam Gongor and Minister of Roads and Transport Delgersaikhan Borkhuu, the Prime Minister urged continuous progress. He emphasized that the oil refinery project will strengthen national energy security and support broader development programs.

During the visit, the delegation received detailed briefings from Altantsetseg Dashdavaa, CEO of Mongol Refinery State-Owned LLC, and Atul Malhari Gotsurve, India’s Ambassador to Mongolia. They noted that Mongolian engineers and Indian project consultants have actively accelerated construction.

Government officials praised the refinery’s steady progress and confirmed full support for its completion and commissioning by 2028. They view the oil refinery project as essential to Mongolia’s strategic fuel goals.

Furthermore, industry experts highlight the project’s significance as one of Mongolia’s largest infrastructure initiatives. It will reduce fuel imports, create jobs, and stimulate transport and petrochemical industries.

The construction team works closely with Indian engineering experts, overcoming logistical and technical challenges efficiently. Officials stressed that constant oversight and careful planning will ensure timely project delivery.

Prime Minister Zandanshatar recognized the dedication of project staff and contractors. He stated that their work directly contributes to national development and encouraged them to maintain momentum.

Looking ahead, the government plans to keep the oil refinery project a top priority. Its completion in 2028 could strengthen Mongolia’s energy independence, boost economic growth, and position the country as a regional energy hub.

Analysts predict that the commissioning of the oil refinery project will attract further investments in related industries. The government has committed to supporting every stage to ensure the project’s long-term success.
