The Kyoto prefectural police found the body on Monday during their search for 11-year-old Yuki Adachi. Investigative sources confirmed the discovery to local media. Adachi was last seen around 8 a.m. on March 23. He got out of his family’s car about 200 meters from Sonobe Elementary School in Nantan. On March 29, police found his school bag in the mountains about 3 kilometers west of the school. The shoe resembles the one Adachi wore when he disappeared.

Police have not released additional details about the body’s location or condition. The search ends tragically for a community that had hoped for a different outcome. Authorities continue their investigation to determine the exact cause of death. The search ends after nearly three weeks of desperate efforts by police and volunteers. Local residents had joined the search operation in the mountainous terrain around Nantan. The search ends tragically as the community now mourns the loss of a young student. Police will provide updates as they confirm the body’s identity and complete their investigation.
